After the success of my first week on the Slim Diet Patch challenge, I am all too aware that in the past I have fallen off the diet bandwagon at exactly such a stage in my weight loss journey.
I know that may seem strange but if your anything like me, having successfully lost weight I start to become lazy with my weight loss efforts. I lost that 5 pounds easily, so maybe I can afford to eat a bit more this week/have a few more snacks/get a takeout tonight.
This is exactly the kind of thinking that causes us to fall off a diet plan and end up putting the weight back on again.
On the other hand, if you don't lose weight, you may be in an equally dangerous situation thinking “I'm not losing any weight so I may as well give in”.
STOP the negative thinking!
This is the reason why as dieters we have to set long term and realistic goals.
OK so you may have not lost any weight this week, but if you stick to your weight loss plan, you can get over a weight loss plateau and see long term and long-lasting results.
Here are some helpful tips if you think you are falling off the diet bandwagon:
Reach out to someone
Ask a friend if they want to join you on your weight loss plan, or join one of the online weight loss communities. They say a problem shared is a problem halved, and the same goes for losing weight.
Take the pressure off
Sometimes the harder you try, the less weight you lose. There is such a thing as overexercising and under-eating. Take your foot off the accelerator for a week and relax your efforts. You may be surprised to see you can still lose weight by eating more calories.
Thankfully, with the Slim Diet Patch, I don't have to carefully plan my diet, so my weight loss plan is pretty pressure-free to start with.
See how far you have come
Take a before picture and keep track of your weight loss in picture form. Alternatively, keep track of your measurements. I have been tracking my weight loss progress on my blog here
Keep your eye on the prize
Imagine how slim and confident you will look at your goal weight. Imagine going into a shop and being able to buy any clothes you like and have them slide on with ease.
Seems like it's time for me to take my own advice!
